The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans create a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
